Vor knapp 70 Jahren setzte meine Uroma Eleni die ersten 400 Olivenbäume in Kallithea selbst ein. Keine 7 Jahre später kam die erste Ernte, und bis heute wird das Öl hauptsächlich nur für den Eigenbedarf der Familie genutzt.

Aus dem Süden Griechenlands

Kallithea, was übersetzt "schöne Aussicht" heißt, liegt eingebettet zwischen sanften Hügeln und Olivenhainen.

Die Region Messenia im Süden des Peleponese ist bekannt für ihr mildes Klima, fruchtbaren Boden und die Jahrhundert alte Tradition des Olivenanbaus.

Abseits des Tourismus, fast ganz im südlichsten Teil des Festlandes, ist das Dorf keine Stunde entfernt von Kalamata und der historischen Ausgrabungsstätte von Sparta.
